It’s been a very enjoyable and exciting pre season so far at Welling Town and I have to say that on a personal level it really has given me a new lease of life and I’m loving every second of it.

The management team that Kevin Oakes and Blaine Horne have put together at the club is one that I am very happy with and proud to be apart of and together the five of us have assembled what I would say is a very talented squad and the group will be one that can only get better which bodes well for the future of the club.

The sessions so far have been of extremely high quality and myself, Ross Baker and Alex Warner have tried to make sure that we keep things relevant and fresh. We have had some great feedback from the lads and we will continue to make sure that we keep them on their toes throughout the season as we are all great believers in training being a very important part of anything we want to achieve this year.

In terms of personel, what we have put together so far is a real blend of quality, experience and youth. It is also fair to say that we have signed some players who just wanted to enjoy there football again and it’s great to see the smiles on faces during the sessions so far.

Saturday we start our pre season fixtures schedule against Little Common at King Henry School. I have to admit I don’t know a lot about them apart from the fact they play at the same step as we do so it will be a good test to see where we are at before we take on Lewes on Monday evening at our new home Chatham Town. Tony Russell, Joe Vines and Nathan White are three people I have a lot of time for and respect a lot. I know that whatever side they bring over to us Monday evening will be a tough challenge for our newly assembled squad which is exactly what we need.

Without going into too much detail or being too specific, we as a management team are very much on the same page about where we want to be at the end of the season, the details of which will stay in house but we are confident in the lads we have brought in and feel good about the season ahead.

Watch this space and UP THE BOOTS!
