With the huge influx of youth players in to our club for the 23/24 season Michael Lawrence has been appointed to oversee matters and to support their pathway over the coming years up the ladder towards semi-professional football.

Michael is a full-time employee of Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) who Welling Town have worked alongside for many seasons in the development of 16-19 year olds via their Post-16 educational programme, and this new role will allow him personally, and the club as a whole, to widen their reach and support more players across south-east London and North and Mid-Kent in playing football in a safe, rewarding and challenging environment.

Michael has over 7 years experience in coaching and football development. With experience at Arsenal, Charlton and several other clubs he currently is The Post 16 Academy Manager at Charlton Athletic Community Trust. He holds UEFA B license and is working towards his UEFA A license.

“My biggest driving force to do the work that I do is to see individuals fulfil their potential at all levels. Creating pathways and opportunities through development in Football is my aim and passion. Which I will strive to also achieve at Welling Town in partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust”

His role will continue to support the managers of our under 23 development sides, as well as our new additions across the various junior football leagues.
