PREVIEW – Welling Town v Forest Hill Park

With just four league games to go its almost unthinkable compared to previous seasons that there are still FIVE sides that could get promoted and are separated by just five points.

The SCEFL website wrote this .. All 18 First Division teams take to the field today and with points vital for many of them the table will have all eyes on it at close of play. Bridon Ropes look to have timed their rise to the top well but with a tough game home game ahead of them will they still be there when the final whistle blows. Their opponents Kent Football United come into this match on the back of a 5-game unbeaten run and if that sequence continues then we could have another change of leaders with just 2 weeks to go. Welling Town will be eager to return to the spot that they lost due to two weeks of inactivity while the other teams caught up with their games in hand. Only a win will do for the ‘Boots’ but that will be hard to come by as it is the in-form Forest Hill Park that are visiting the Bayliss today.

A point behind the leading pair are Erith & Belvedere but that would have been different had they returned from Homelands with a point or three last week. They bounced back from that defeat with a win on Tuesday and now take on Holmesdale hoping to hand their visitors a 6th loss in a row. Kennington are a few points behind the top three but they have not given up on successive promotions just yet. They visit the Mayplace Ground as clear favourites to overcome a Phoenix Sports Reserves side that have gone 5 matches without a victory yet both teams probably need the points as much as each other. Sutton Athletic have gone goal crazy on the road recently, netting 22 times in their past 4 away games. Therefore the short trip to Foxbury will not scare them despite Stansfeld still having their eyes on a top 6 finish.
